To Infinity and Beyond with Aiko Pops!

We are finally getting around to writing about our Office Hero contest! If you do not remember our contest it went a little something like this. Lots of Denver’s worker bees posted on our Facebook wall or Twitter feed why their office deserved a bunch of free popsicles to cool themselves off during this scorcher of a summer. We ended up choosing three winners! In the heat of August, Mr. Jonny Stixx himself, visited our winners at their offices to deliver the ice pops.

First stop was the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado. These guys and gals do some great work for the youth of Colorado and deserved a popsicle break for sure. Andrew, our winner, was off being a real hero for the kids so we dropped the pops off to be shared later.

Next stop was at the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver. Emily surprised her coworkers with our delicious popsicles including our Truffled Popcorn. We shared some laughs and enjoyed some frozen treats. This office of hard working ladies deserved a cool snack on this hot day. Keep up the good work!

The last stop was at The Matchbox Bar. Jonny Stixx showed up for happy hour (no surprise there) and was able to share over 40 of his gourmet popsicles with the bar staff and the patrons! We had a great time drinking beer and eating ice pops. This is a great bar with lots of fun people. We were happy to hang around enjoying the evening.

The Office Hero Contest was a great success. Be sure to stay tuned on our Facebook page and Twitter feed for more fun contests and promotions from Aiko Pops!

Handing Out Popsicles Courtesy of Volkswagen!

We has a great time at the Copper Triangle Bicycle Race this past weekend. We handed out well over 2,500 popsicles courtesy of Volkswagen to all the hot and tired racers. We custom wrapped our bicycle to show the VW logo which helped us fit right in. Volkswagen was very generous handing out T-shirts and bicycle multitools as well. If you like to bike, definitely consider this race next year. Everyone was in good spirits after completing the ride. We met lots of new people from around the area but also saw some familiar faces from the Denver area.

After that event we raced back down to Denver to participate in the Justice League of Street Food party. As always we had a rockin’ good time with music, food and friends. These events are so much fun. If you haven’t made it out to one yet, look for one in the future. Imagine all the best street food in Denver in the same spot! We saw yo-yo masters doing crazy tricks (check out the video on our Facebook page.)

To cap off the weekend we made our way to the Old South Pearl Farmers Market. We always have a fun time there. With so many artisans and so many people who appreciate hand crafted food and goods, we feel right at home.

If we did not see you last weekend, look for us this week. We will be in all the usual farmers markets. If you cannot wait for the weekend (and I don’t blame you), check out all the locations that sell our ice pops throughout the week!

Aiko pops at the Colorado Zombie 5k

We had a great time this weekend at the Zombie 5k Race just outside of Denver in Lakewood, Colorado. There were thousands of runners and zombies participating in the event and we here at aiko pops felt privileged to be a part of it. It was a very hot day so our popsicles were very popular (almost as popular as the beer tent but not quite. No real surprise there.) The big hit was the Zomberry popsicle as seen in the accompanying photo.

The creativity at the event was awesome! Participants wore clever outfits some that you expect in a zombie apocalypse and others that you would not. One of our favorites was a person wearing a shirt that said “Eat that guy” and then another person that had a shirt on that said “That guy.” The Zombies were also very creative in their flesh eating techniques, which made things very entertaining for us spectators.
It was a very fun day and we were happy our ice pops could be a part of it. Check out some of the pictures on the Denver Westword website by following this link to the slideshow. We are in slide #99. http://www.westword.com/slideshow/run-for-your-lives-zombie-5k-37307694/

The itchy-O Marching Band (IOMB) is a Denver-based percussion-centered electronic marching band and the mobile arm of the experimental film/music troupe itchy-O. itchy-O brings a sophisticatedly savage sound and the sheer ecstasy of electronic instruments untethered and running free. With a driving drum corp complemented by an arsenal of electronics including synthesizers, theremin, vocoders, and many other special devices, the IOMB completely engulfs and immerses an audience from every angle in a pounding electric bog of music, ephemera and spectacle. The unidentifiable IOMB is waging war on predictable mediocrity with their guerrilla-style performances which feature an artfully hazardous Chinese lion, a frenetic Taiko troupe, sensuous dancing twin apparitions, fog, strobes, sequins, sweat and fury. itchy-O has been featured on Colordao Public Radio, performed for the Biennial of the Americas Kick-off Party, Denver’s Underground Music Showcase, Westword’s Artopia, conferences such as Adobe’s Effective UI, and other festivals and launch parties. They’ve opened for DEVO, The Melvins, March Fourth, the Extra Action Marching Band, the Warlock Pinchers and headlined many other shows.

With food trucks, Dr. Dr. Whom, EchoBeds, and a Flaming Hearse Parade this BYOB Underground Outdoor Party is going to be MAGNIFICENT! !
